Friday there are 2 sessions available to the general public beginning with 2:30 shift and a 5 :45 shift to pack food. \nA nati ve of Barron\, Wisconsin\, Karl Salscheider accepted Jesus Christ as his L ord and Savior in 1973 while a student-athlete at Northern Michigan Univer sity (NMU). Karl and his wife\, Dorothy\, moved to Bemidji in 1981\, where he spent 32 1/2 years at BSU\, initially as the men’s basketball coach an d instructor\, and later as a professor and academic department chair.
\nOver a 45-year period in Bemidji\, Karl and Dorothy have ministered a t Faith Baptist and the Evangelical Free Church\; Karl as a deacon\, elder \, life-group leader\, Sunday School superintendent\, and Dorothy as a cho ir director\, pianist\, organist\, AWANA and Patch the Pirate musical dire ctors\, and life-group dinner host. Karl and Dorothy are members of the Fi rst Baptist Church.
\nIn his retirement years\, Karl directs the Nat ional Collegiate Health Priorities Project\, which surveyed 2\,464 student s from 26 states\, representing both public and private\, faith-based univ ersities\, asking about their health priorities (including spiritual healt h)\, worldviews (including evolution and creationism)\, and satisfaction l evels with their priorities. Karl holds a BS degree in Economics and an MA in Health from NMU\, and a PhD in Health from the University of Utah. Kar l and Dorothy have five children and 14 grandchildren\, all within 60 mile s of their home on Midge Lake.
\nKarl will present his Christian tes timony and share his journey through the secular workplaces of basketball\ , teaching\, administration\, and research. A short question-and-answer pe riod will follow the presentation. His favorite Bible verses are from 1st John 5:12-13: “Не that hath the Son hath life\; and he that hath not the S on of God hath not life. The Overflow Youth Conference exists to refresh\, equ ip\, and send students back into their schools and communities with renewe d faith and purpose. Students from across the region will gather for worsh ip\, teaching\, community and service\, with the goal of helping them grow deeper in their faith and live out the love of Jesus in practical ways.\n
We’re excited to welcome Lindsay Johnson\, Dean of Students at Southwest Christian School in Chaska\, Minnesota. Lindsay is passionate about guiding students into deeper relationship with Christ. We ’re confident that her teaching will challenge\, inspire and encourage stu dents in their faith.
