The Bemidji Full Gospel Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be held Saturday, May 2 in the Community Room at First Baptist Church (1555 Paul Bunyan Dr NW). Please park in the back and use the rear entrance. Starting at 8:00am, there will be a light breakfast followed by a time of fellowship and a testimony from featured speaker Karl Salscheider.
A native of Barron, Wisconsin, Karl Salscheider accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1973 while a student-athlete at Northern Michigan University (NMU). Karl and his wife, Dorothy, moved to Bemidji in 1981, where he spent 32 1/2 years at BSU, initially as the men’s basketball coach and instructor, and later as a professor and academic department chair.
Over a 45-year period in Bemidji, Karl and Dorothy have ministered at Faith Baptist and the Evangelical Free Church; Karl as a deacon, elder, life-group leader, Sunday School superintendent, and Dorothy as a choir director, pianist, organist, AWANA and Patch the Pirate musical directors, and life-group dinner host. Karl and Dorothy are members of the First Baptist Church.
In his retirement years, Karl directs the National Collegiate Health Priorities Project, which surveyed 2,464 students from 26 states, representing both public and private, faith-based universities, asking about their health priorities (including spiritual health), worldviews (including evolution and creationism), and satisfaction levels with their priorities. Karl holds a BS degree in Economics and an MA in Health from NMU, and a PhD in Health from the University of Utah. Karl and Dorothy have five children and 14 grandchildren, all within 60 miles of their home on Midge Lake.
Karl will present his Christian testimony and share his journey through the secular workplaces of basketball, teaching, administration, and research. A short question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. His favorite Bible verses are from 1st John 5:12-13: “Не that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

Mark your calendar for Monday, May 4th and join the Walker Area Pregnancy Support Center for our Annual Banquet Fundraiser at Northern Lights Event Center in Walker. Doors open at 6:00pm, dinner at 6:30, with guest speaker Karla Sutter of Flutter, Inc.
This year’s theme is “It’s Time”: Just as Esther was given influence “for such a time as this” to bring truth to the king and protection to the vulnerable, we are being given the opportunity to bring light where there is uncertainty. For such a time as this, God is calling us to light the way- bringing clarity, courage, and life into view through the gift of ultrasound. Join us as we work toward our goal to add ultrasound and other limited medical care to our services.
There’s no cost to attend, but there will be an opportunity for giving during the event. RSVP is required by April 27th. Reserve your seat today by calling 218-547-5433 or emailing walkerpsc@arvig.net.
