This budget will cover the full annual operating costs of Shine the Light, and 40% of the annual operating costs of Your QFM. The other 60% of the QFM budget is covered by advertising revenue.
Shine the Light, inc. is a non-denominational 501C3 non-profit ministry, supporting the body of Christ, and shining the light of Christ in the region in various ways. First, by assisting Your QFM in raising the dollars necessary for healthy operation. Also, by assisting many other ministries and ministry events in the region, both financially and prayerfully. From pregnancy centers to food shelves to concerts and youth events. Shine the Light has also been able to help many families with immediate financial needs. Shine the Light, Inc has been a partner in ministry with Your QFM for over 20 years.
$25K for the benevolent budget of Shine the Light…coming to the aid of a variety of other ministries in the region as well as the annual Better to Give Christmas season program, and Better to Love Easter season program.
$65K for the annual operating budget of Shine the Light, which includes the operation of 4 translator stations throughout the region.
$160K for Your QFM, which represents 40% of the annual operating budget of Your QFM. The annual budget has bumped up somewhat, however look what has been accomplished with God’s help in this past year.
After 21 years, Your QFM has just launched a new, more powerful signal at 107.1!
21 years of leasing tower space has ended. Your FM has partnered with another radio company to build a brand new 500’ tower on radar hill, 6 miles north of Bagley. The end result is our tower location has moved east just over 5 miles, which resulted in a 180’ gain of elevation. Also, in the process, we learned the FCC restrictions had changed for us, and we were able to increase from 50 thousand watts of power to 100 thousand watts of power. The added height and power has definitely increased the broadcast territory of Your QFM…shining the light of Christ stronger and farther than ever before.
Building a tower is a huge investment, but we truly believe God was with us and helped make a way. Your QFM has always had sister stations in Fosston. Over time it became evident that these stations needed to be sold for the betterment of all. When a buyer came along, one thing led to another, resulting in a move of partnership to build our own tower and end the long expensive tower lease arrangement. For Your QFM, the dollars generated by the sale of the sister stations will greatly help in offsetting the costs of the tower project and the costs associated with increasing to 100 thousand watts, such as the need for an upgraded transmitter and antenna. There will still be a bank loan involved, but a much more manageable one.
We definitely felt the leading of God in the new tower location as well. In selecting a new site, there were certain restraints we had to deal with due to licenses, frequencies and regulations by the FCC. Initially, we would have been content in selecting a site very near the previous site. In fact we had several sites picked out, but after prayer and discussions, they all fell through. It became very clear that God was telling us to move a little further east, which brought us to Radar Hill…already home to 4 towers. Incredibly, and smoothly, we were able to secure 6 acres of land at the very top of the hill. The end result is the new tower is located on the highest piece of land we could possibly have found considering those restraints. God did not want us settling for anything less than His ultimate plan.
